The Oldtimers Car Show downtown on Saturday, July 11 appears to have been a success in spite of the rain.
Participant attendance was down this year…we are assuming the weather forecast influenced some owner/drivers, but interested viewers came downtown to see them anyway.
The live music on Front Street kept the block hopping, and the scavenger hunt for show participants included clues hidden equally in stores on both First and Front Streets.
The Old-timers Club greatly appreciated our support and were pleased to be back downtown this year.
I feel compelled to give a BIG shout out to the following:
Windermere Real Estate for sponsoring the band.
Jack Heckman from Budget/Heckman Motors for the free use of his garage for the band (and John for assisting in setup).
Port Scandalous Roller Derby for selling raffle tickets all afternoon as a fundraiser for Captain Joseph House (they donated their share also).
The following businesses who contributed to the 150 goody bags for car show participants:
Wenner & Davis Insurance
Necessities & Temptations
Captain Joseph House Foundation
Everybody involved, in any way, deserves a giant THANK YOU! for coming together and showing both locals and out-of-towners our welcoming spirit!
