Port Angeles, Wash. – Newly-elected School Board Directors Joshua Jones and Susan Shotthafer, who were elected as directors for the Port Angeles School District in November, were sworn in to office by Judge Erik Rohrer at the Thursday, December 10 board meeting held at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center. They will serve four year terms in office.
Rick Marti’s resignation as director was accepted. He was elected to Position No. 4 in the November election but resigned his position prior to the swearing-in due to personal reasons.
Directors approved a recommendation by Superintendent Marc Jackson that applications for the vacant position be accepted from December 11 through December 30, 2015 by 4:00 p.m. Application instructions may be picked up at the Superintendent’s Office located at the Central Services Building, 216 East Fourth Street.
Directors will screen applications January 4 and 5, 2016 and will choose up to five applicants for interviews. Interviews of candidates will be held in an open session at a special meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2016, followed by an executive session and official announcement by the directors.
Director Cindy Kelly was elected as Board president and Sarah Methner will serve as vice president. They were elected for one year terms in these roles.

Outgoing directors – Steve Baxter, Dr. Patti Happe and Lonnie Linn – were celebrated at a reception prior to the meeting for their many years of service to the School District.
